Canadian auto racer Robert Wickens is in hospital for precautionary statement following an accident throughout a race on the Nürburgring in Germany.
Wickens, who drives a Hyundai Elantra N TCR for Bryan Herta Autosport, crashed halfway via the NLS 1 race on Saturday.
The 35-year-old from Guelph, Ont., was “aware and alert” and was taken to a close-by hospital, the workforce stated.
Wickens was paralyzed from the waist down following a crash throughout an IndyCar race in 2018.
He returned to full-time racing in 2022 utilizing a hand-control system.
Wickens and co-driver Harry Gottsacker captured the TCR class championship within the Michelin Pilot Problem sequence final season.
