The eight kilometer extension of the sunshine rail Pink Line had been scheduled to open in July 2023.
The Jerusalem mild rail Pink Line extension will no longer open till the second half of 2024 due to additional delays attributable to the conflict. In accordance with the monetary report of Shapir Engineering and Industries Ltd. (TASE: SPEN), a part of the J-Web consortium which builds, maintains and operates the Pink Line along with Spanish firm CAF, the extension will now open within the second half of 2024.

In January 2023, Minister of Transport Miri Regev and Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion went on a trial run alongside the Pink Line extension. Lion introduced that the extension would start working in July 2023. However the authorities granted J-Web an extension of 4 months as a result of the challenge was not prepared on time. The beginning of the conflict induced additional issues with CAF’s workforce leaving the nation, making November 2023 not viable, and now the opening of the challenge has been put again till the second half of 2024..
The present 14 kilometers of the Pink Line between Pisgat Zeev and Mount Herzl started working in 2011. The road is now being prolonged by an extra 8 kilometers with eight new stations to Hadassah Medical Heart within the southeast and 4 new stations to Neve Yaakov within the north.
